Omron HJ-105 Pedometer

The Omron HJ-105 pedometer is a fair bit cheaper than the very popular HJ-112. Nevertheless, although it lacks some of the features of the latter model, it has also become one of the most popular pedometers on the market.

The Australian Consumers’ Association’s Choice magazine offers a review of the Omron HJ-105 pedometer (which in Australia is labeled the HJ-109):

While it was one of the more difficult to use (it has more features than most), it comes with more substantial instructions. It features a seven-day memory, which appealed to some. It also counts ‘aerobic’ steps and records the duration of aerobic stepping.

Aerobic steps are based on two criteria: walking more than 60 steps per minute, and walking for more than 10 minutes continuously (with less than a minute of rest). So with this pedometer you can see if you meet both the ‘10,000 steps a day’ and 30 minutes’ moderate-intensity exercise targets…Trialist comment: “I liked the clock and the spring clip to attach; comprehensive manual gave good background info.”

The following is an extract from a review of the Omron HJ-105 pedometer, which is at the About website:

This pedometer is relatively easy-to-use and is appropriate for the first time pedometer user. The instructions are easy to understand, even for someone who isn't normally adept at handling or programming electronic devices (like yours truly). It is perfect (and very accurate) for measuring walking workouts, but may cause some concern when tracking daily activity steps.
